Acai aSlim

Acai-aSlim is another diet pill based on acai that has recently been advertised quite a bit.  After checking it’s website out, we thought that a review was in order for one reason: to warn consumers to stay away from Acai-aSlim.  ‘Why?’ you ask.  Is it dangerous? Well, not to your health.  It may, however, be dangerous for you wallet.

We’ll fill you on some of the things we found as we reviewed Acai-aSlim so that you can decide for yourself if it’s a company that you’re willing to work with.

Ingredients

  • Acai
  • Noni
  • Resveratrol
  • Green Tea

Acai, Noni, Resveratrol - Each of these ingredients is a good overall health supplement that will help you be more healthy (acai for example is a fantastic antioxidant).  But none of these ingredients have been shown to cause any significant weight loss.  They are a good addition to other fat loss supplements, but will do nothing for you in terms of weight loss by themselves.

Green Tea - A proven diet pill ingredient, green tea has been shown to increase the metabolic rate, helping you to burn more fat.  The amount of green tea in Acai-aSlim is not disclosed.

Acai-aSlim’s Marketing

The Sneaky Autoship Program

Acai-aSlim engages in a type of marketing that is downright shameful.  They use an autoship program (which by itself isn’t that bad; it’s the way that they use the autoship that is bad.)  Acai-aSlim is following suit with many other shady diet pill companies by offering a “free trial” to visitors.  By signing up for the free trial, you are automatically enrolled in their autoship program.  This means that if you don’t call and cancel within 14 days of ordering, they will automatically mail you more pills and bill your credit card for it.  But what’s bad is that because they hide any mention of being enrolled in the program in their fine-print terms and conditions (in a tiny link that no one will click at the bottom of the page), most people will request the free trial and have no idea that they are in the program, much less that they need to cancel it in order to avoid being charged a hefty amount.    If you need an example from who was recently taken advantage of, see this complaint report.

Here are the ‘terms’ of the autoship hidden deep within their terms and conditions:

By agreeing to the terms of the AgreementCustomer automatically receives 14-day trial to the ProgramCustomer has 14 days to try the Program and decide whether to accept the Program full-time.Prior to the expiration of the 14-day trial period, Customer may cancel its subscription by calling toll-free at 877-317-0189 or writing to Acai-aSlim, 16192 Coastal Highway Lewes, DE 19958. Should Customer fail to cancel its subscription, its Subscription with Reg.Net will become active and Customer will be billed $79.95 on the 16th day after its trial begins and every month thereafter.

Nowhere does it mention anything of the sort in any obvious place on the website.  The business practices of this company alone are enough for me to never buy anything from them.

Other Classic Marketing Techniques

They also use some of the other rediculous marketing techniques that at least deserve to be mentioned here.  Such tactics include posting logos of tv shows and news stations on the site as if they had actually been featured such programs.  Don’t fall for it, they haven’t.  They may have mentioned the acai fruit, but in no way is that an endorsement for this particular product.

Another one of my favorites is when they tell you that their trial bottles are ‘going fast’ and that you need to hurry and “secure your trial now before it’s too late.”  Please.

Oh, and as a side note.  Any time that you see the option of getting the product is through a ‘free trial’ (in other words you don’t have an option to simply buy the product) it’s a sign that something fishy is going on. Beware.

Acai-aSlim’s Price

The only place where the price is listed is hidden in their terms.  As seen above, it’s $79.95 per bottle.  This is a rediculous price for a product that only has one ingredient proven to help with weight loss (and we don’t even know how much of that ingredient is included).

Acai-aSlim’s Guarantee

They mention a 30 day guarantee in their terms and conditions, but it’s surrounded by a slew of legal jargon that I’m sure has some kind of stipulation allowing them to reject your returned products. (I’m no lawyer, that’s just the feeling I get when reading it).

Conclusion

Acai-aSlim’s ingredient profile is quite weak. On top of that, they use shady marketing tactics to take advantage of the unsuspecting consumers.  I obviously haven’t purchased from these guys, but I’m sure that you’ll regret it if you do.  The price is also insanely high for such an inneffective product (healthy, yes. But weight loss inducing, no.)  Two big thumbs down for Acai-aSlim.
